JUSDA Launched Transportation Collaborative Project to Help Sharp’s Digital Transformation of Supply Chain Management

June 2019 witnessed the official launch of JUSDA Transportation Collaborative Project in Sharp in order to help Sharp achieve some powerful functions such as optimization of the process from procurement to transportation, multi-role online collaboration, automatic online freight accounting, etc. This project finishes the digital management of Sharp’s supply chain and means a milestone in global transportation cost reduction and efficiency increase.

As a century-old enterprise, Sharp has launched countless epoch-making products such as “Japan’s First” and “World’s First” since its founding. With the increasing complexity of Sharp’s upstream and downstream supply chain Sharp also faces many challenges such as slowdown of supply chain efficiency and response speed and difficulty in predicting production plans. Upon purchasing Sharp in 2016, Foxconn has optimized Sharp’s supply chain process for several rounds, reaching remarkable achievements and turning Sharp’s losses into profits. As the exclusively Foxconn-authorized enterprise of supply chain management platform , JUSDA is responsible for optimizing Sharp’s supply chain.

What on earth are the shortcomings of the Sharp supply chain that the JUSDA Transportation Collaborative Project has solved? For example, with its suppliers from all over the world, Sharp has to deal with customs clearance for its large number of import businesses every day and check massive of delivery information in real time besides communication burdens owing to different time zones. According to the original process, Sharp’s Import Department Office always had the following scenario on the 15th of each month: The 6-person group’s customs clearance team was rushing to input the loading information one by one and then checking the consistency of the information one by one even if it was 2 o’clock in the middle night…and this happened for every half month.

By contrast, since the launch of the JUSDA Transportation Collaborative Project for one month, the automatic information input and automatic system accounting have been realized quickly, which has reduced the nodes of Sharp’s business operation procedure and improved the efficiency by at least 40%-60%. In addition, the coordinating function of different roles on the platform has largely increased the task processing speed and the operation procedure standard has been rebuilt, making the whole procedure efficient and transparent. The online automatic accounting function of freight has reduced the Sharp’s monthly settlement labor costs, with 40% at least. The launch of the project has also effectively satisfied Sharp’s strict management of each product’s cost, and also made it possible to quickly track the cost of each SKU, which has not only improved the efficiency of global transportation operations, but also controlled all product costs efficiently.

Besides helping the digital transformation of Sharp’s thousands of upstream and downstream manufacturers, this project has also largely reduced paper waste, liberated the staff from offices full of papers, contributing to paperless office and green supply chain.

Although the above examples are only some shortcomings in Sharp’s supply chain, they do exist in many large manufacturing plants. Therefore, the launch of the JUSDASupply Chain Management Collaboration Platform  is also critical to JUSDA. “Through this project, JUSDA helps Sharp reorganize the import business procedure and improve the procedure efficiency and operating costs. The launch of the project not only marks the first step in Sharp’s transformation to digitalization, but also manifests the recognition of JUSDA Supply Chain Management Collaboration Platform  by the world famous enterprises including Sharp. In the future, we will continue to inject more innovative thinking and energy into the R & D of JUSDA Supply Chain Management Collaboration Platform.
so as to help more enterprises seeking digital transformation to optimize and upgrade the E2E Intelligent Supply Chain Management of. JUSDA is expected to always play as the role of the leading supply chain service provider in supply chain digital transformation”, said JUSDA’s CTO Mr. Lv Taixin.

“At present, many electronic manufacturers still only focus on warehousing and distribution in the upstream and downstream supply chain integration instead of the integration and optimization of the whole supply chain, so the efficiency of supply chain is largely restricted. These are indeed the implicit cost of enterprises’ whole supply chain and can be optimized dramatically. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital upgrading and transformation cannot be realized in one day but imperative. This also means something that JUSDA is doing for other enterprise”, said JUSDA’s CTO Mr. Lv Taixin. The launch of the Transportation Collaborative Project means a good practice and test of JUSDA Supply Chain Management Collaboration Platform  in enterprise application and it symbolizes a dramatic step in the practical application of  this platform.

JUSDA’s Transportation Collaborative Project replaces Sharp’s original outdated C/S architecture system with an industry-leading micro-services architecture system to improve the problems that the original system has, such as low flexibility and uneasy adjustment of business demand, and also increase the response speed of the whole platform for business demand. In the future, JUSDA Supply Chain Management Collaboration Platform will continue to open its different business scenarios and platform modules in the process of supply chain management to the outside with leading technology in order to form a productization service ability and solution in real sense, bringing more value to clients with software + hardware + solution.
