From intelligent declarations to cross-border coordination, enabling more efficient and resilient global supply chains.
As the 2026 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting approaches, trade facilitation, digital transformation, and regional connectivity are taking center stage. Scheduled for November 18–19 in Shenzhen, China, this year’s meeting will be held under the theme “Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together,” with three priorities: openness, innovation, and cooperation.
Bringing together 21 member economies, APEC has long worked to reduce trade barriers, streamline cross-border procedures, and strengthen regional supply chain connectivity. As global manufacturing networks evolve, digital trade processes, smart customs, and closer cooperation among customs authorities are becoming increasingly important.
Customs modernization has been a key focus of APEC discussions throughout 2026. In February, the APEC Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures met in Guangzhou to discuss artificial intelligence, cross-border e-commerce, and paperless trade. The APEC Customs-Business Dialogue in Dalian in August further explored smart customs, electronic documentation, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs, and practical approaches to trade facilitation.
Together, these discussions highlight a broader shift: customs management is evolving beyond traditional import and export declarations toward more digital, standardized, and connected operations.
Against this backdrop, JUSDA International Supply Chain Management is strengthening its digital customs capabilities through its customs services platform, JusTrade, combining decades of industry experience with digital technology to support manufacturers navigating increasingly complex international trade requirements.

Digital Customs: A Critical Enabler of Trade Facilitation
Paperless trade involves more than converting physical documents into electronic files. Its real value lies in enabling accurate, consistent, and timely information exchange among businesses, logistics providers, and customs authorities.
In May 2026, APEC trade ministers reaffirmed their commitment to paperless trade, including promoting cross-border recognition of electronic trade documents such as electronic bills of lading and e-invoices.
For multinational manufacturers, moving goods from production facilities to overseas markets involves multiple layers of documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, Harmonized System (HS) classifications, certificates of origin, and customs declarations. Differences in regulatory requirements and documentation standards can create additional administrative costs and operational delays.
Reducing duplicate data entry, improving declaration accuracy, and increasing shipment visibility have therefore become important priorities for cross-border supply chain operations.
JusTrade builds on more than 20 years of customs management and supply chain experience, with roots in Foxconn Technology Group’s Central Customs Department.
Drawing on its experience serving complex manufacturing operations, JusTrade developed ClickClear (点点通), its proprietary digital customs platform, to streamline processes across service requests, document preparation, customs declarations, status updates, and data management.
The platform incorporates AI-assisted document processing, automated declaration preparation, HS code classification support, and data validation. With more than 500 built-in validation rules, ClickClear helps identify potential inconsistencies before submission, reducing repetitive manual work and supporting more standardized customs operations.
By combining professional customs expertise with structured digital workflows, JusTrade is helping businesses improve operational efficiency while maintaining greater control over declaration quality and compliance.

Connecting Customs and Logistics for More Predictable Cross-Border Delivery
Another important aspect of APEC’s trade facilitation agenda is reducing supply chain bottlenecks and improving the predictability of cross-border goods movement.
As manufacturing operations become more geographically distributed, customs clearance can no longer be managed in isolation. It must be closely coordinated with transportation, border operations, warehousing, and production schedules.
In the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, JusTrade supports cross-border freight movements between Shenzhen and Hong Kong through digital service requests, intelligent document preparation, customs status visibility, and coordinated declaration processes across both markets.
Along the China–Vietnam trade corridor, JusTrade provides customs services at major border crossings, including Friendship Pass, Dongxing, and Longbang. Document pre-screening, milestone tracking, exception alerts, and on-site customs support help businesses manage operational uncertainties and reduce avoidable delays.
JusTrade has also expanded its international service network, establishing local service capabilities in markets including the United States, Vietnam, and Mexico. Through its broader network, the company supports customs-related services across more than 55 countries and regions.
These capabilities reflect a growing requirement among global manufacturers: customs efficiency is no longer measured solely by how quickly an individual shipment clears the border, but also by how reliably customs processes support end-to-end supply chain execution.
Balancing Efficiency and Compliance in Global Trade
Trade facilitation does not mean reducing regulatory oversight.
As international trade requirements evolve, businesses face increasing complexity in tariff classification, rules of origin, customs valuation, import and export regulations, and supply chain security.
APEC has continued to promote cooperation on AEO programs and mutual recognition arrangements, supporting closer collaboration between customs authorities and businesses while balancing trade efficiency with security and compliance.
Beyond traditional customs declarations, JusTrade provides commodity classification consulting, origin-related services, bonded logistics customs support, and AEO certification advisory services.
Two JusTrade-affiliated companies have obtained China Customs AEO Advanced Certification, reflecting their experience in customs compliance and standardized operational management.
By integrating digital workflows with professional customs expertise, JusTrade helps businesses strengthen declaration accuracy, improve process transparency, and identify potential compliance issues earlier in the customs process.

From Faster Clearance to More Resilient Supply Chains
APEC 2026’s focus on smart customs, paperless trade, and regional connectivity reflects an important direction for international trade: improving cross-border efficiency increasingly depends on the combined strength of digital technology, regulatory expertise, and coordinated service networks.
For global manufacturers, the practical priorities remain clear: accurate documentation, timely customs updates, effective coordination across borders, and consistent compliance management.
Through JusTrade’s customs expertise and ClickClear’s digital capabilities, JUSDA continues to strengthen the connection between customs management, international transportation, warehousing, and cross-border fulfillment.
As global supply chains become more interconnected and complex, digital customs solutions will play an increasingly important role in helping manufacturers improve trade efficiency, manage compliance risks, and maintain reliable international operations.
